- Data mining and extraction from a wide range of sources and media
- Understand the purpose why data is required and assist in the validation of data products and publications
- Handle data enquiries accurately and in a timely manner to meet the requirements of colleagues and clients, including the wider group
- Structure, update and interpret the existing database across the shipping, offshore and passenger vessel sectors
- Reviewing existing and new data sets for accuracy, relevance, integrity and alignment
- Keeping updated on relevant external sources of data through the media, conferences and shipping networks
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial or academic data environment managing large, complex data sets in a shipping or related industry environment
- Attention to detail
- Keen interest in the latest data processing and validation tools
- Practical experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel or PowerBI)
- Proven analytical track record with the ability to communicate methods and results
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and respond to changing priorities
- Must have a degree
