A Greek-based shipowning company is seeking a Commercial Operator to join its operations team. This role plays a key part in the day-to-day commercial and marine management of the fleet, working closely with Chartering, Technical, Insurance, and HSSQEE functions to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Chartering during pre-fixture activities (questionnaires, stowage, cargo planning)
- Prepare and monitor voyages, including instructions, port information, and execution
- Oversee day-to-day vessel operations and cargo handling
- Coordinate agents, port matters, D/A approvals, and vessel-related expenses
- Manage bunker stemmings and monitor fuel supply
- Monitor vessel documentation, certification, and regulatory compliance in coordination with Insurance
- Oversee navigational equipment, charts, publications, and communication systems
- Support vetting inspections and liaise with Masters on operational performance
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and SMS procedures
- Coordinate with the Technical Department on performance, defects, and inspections
- Arrange Drug & Alcohol testing and monitor Medical Chest compliance
- Assist with claims documentation and emergency response support
- Monitor timely delivery of stores and provisions
- Promote safe, efficient, and environmentally sound vessel operation
- Proven experience in a Marine / Commercial Operator or similar role
- Seagoing experience in rank
- Master Mariner or Chief Officer license desirable
- Excellent command of Greek and English (written and spoken)
- Solid understanding of commercial vessel operations, voyage execution, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment
