Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager with 5-10 years' experience in the maritime sector, especially consultative selling of maritime or marine safety / medical / lifesaving / compliance-related solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of developing new business opportunities, nurturing existing accounts, and driving sales growth. You will identify market trends, build strategic relationships, and work closely with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect and develop new business opportunities in the maritime sector (shipowners, ship operators, offshore vessels, classification societies, brokers, etc.).
- Manage and grow existing accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and up-selling / cross-selling of relevant product or service offerings.
- Deliver consultative sales: assess customer needs, design solution proposals, provide technical / regulatory / compliance advice.
- Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, regulatory changes (e.g. IMO, flag states, safety and medical regulations), and feed market intelligence back to internal teams.
- Lead negotiations, prepare commercial proposals, manage pricing, contract terms, and close deals.
- Coordinate with operations, product, technical support, and after-sales teams to ensure successful implementation and delivery of solutions.
- Meet or exceed sales targets / KPIs. Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline, and forecasts.
- 5 to 10 years' experience in business development or sales roles specifically in the maritime industry, with exposure to safety / medical / lifeboats / emergency / compliance / regulatory products or services.
- Strong consultative selling skills — able to understand complex customer requirements and design tailored solutions.
- Deep knowledge of maritime regulations / standards & market dynamics relevant to medical and safety solutions on board vessels.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing business in competitive markets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Able to build and maintain relationships at senior stakeholder levels.
- Self-motivated, proactive, with strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Able to travel internationally and domestically as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related field is preferred.
