The Role
The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for the overall technical management, maintenance, and compliance of assigned PCTC vessels. You will work closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, and shore-based teams to ensure the vessels are operated to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day technical operations of assigned PCTC vessels.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all maintenance, repair, and dry-docking activities, ensuring cost efficiency and timely completion.
- Manage vessel budgets, monitor expenditure, and implement cost control measures.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, class requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections to monitor technical condition, performance, and crew competence.
- Liaise with Class Societies, Flag States, OEMs, and service providers.
- Analyse technical performance data and implement improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard management teams.
- Investigate technical incidents, determine root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer).
- Sailing experience as Chief Engineer, ideally on PCTC, Ro-Ro, or similar vessel types.
- Previous shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent preferred, but senior shipboard engineers with relevant vessel experience may also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems, planned maintenance systems, and maritime regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel for vessel visits and inspections.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin to manage international stakeholders.
