An established maritime organisation with long-term operations supporting inter-island trade is strengthening its shore-based team in Papua New Guinea. Based in Lae, this role offers a stable onshore posting with company-provided accommodation and a company car, remaining closely connected to day-to-day vessel operations.
You will have full responsibility for the technical performance of assigned vessels operating on inter-island routes. The role covers maintenance planning, defect and breakdown management, dry-docking, technical compliance, and coordination with ship staff, service providers, and local stakeholders. This is a hands-on superintendent position with clear ownership of vessel condition and operational readiness.
Key Requirements
- Seagoing Chief Engineer background
- Shore-based experience in a technical superintendent or equivalent role
- Experience on container ships, multipurpose vessels, or bulk carriers
