Job Description

An industry-leading shipowner is seeking a highly experienced Site Manager to oversee the construction of a cutting edge, high speed aluminium catamaran ferry. This next generation vessel will set new global standards for sustainability, propulsion technology, and passenger experience.

About the Project:

This landmark newbuild will be the largest vessel of its kind and the first to carry a “Hydrogen Ready” classification. Designed to carry over 1,500 passengers and 400 vehicles, the ferry features a complex propulsion system combining gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat recovery, battery hybridisation, and shaft generators, all within a high speed catamaran platform.

The Role:

As the senior onsite representative, the Site Manager will be responsible for end to end supervision of the vessel’s construction, commissioning, and delivery. This includes managing local and international teams across multiple shipyard and equipment supplier locations.

The successful candidate will provide leadership on all aspects of quality, safety, compliance, and schedule performance, ensuring successful integration of advanced propulsion, hybrid systems, and future fuel-readiness.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Overseeing construction, outfitting, commissioning, and sea trials across multiple international sites
  • Managing plan approval and inspection processes, documentation systems, and FATs
  • Leading integration of complex technologies including dual-fuel systems, combined-cycle turbines, hybrid propulsion, and hydrogen-readiness
  • Recruiting, leading, and mentoring a diverse supervision team
  • Coordinating with yards, design offices, classification societies, and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Degree-qualified in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or similar
  • Proven leadership on complex newbuilds, ideally high speed ferries, RoPax, or aluminium vessels
  • Deep expertise in aluminium construction, turbine propulsion systems, and hybrid technologies
  • Experience with dual-fuel and hydrogen-ready systems
  • Strong understanding of international regulations, including HSC Code
  • Culturally adept, with experience in Southeast Asian yards preferred
  • A collaborative, solutions-driven leader with excellent communication and reporting skills
Desirable Attributes:
  • Recognised as a top-tier Site Manager in the global high-speed or passenger vessel sector
  • Fluent in English (additional languages advantageous)
  • Committed to innovation, sustainability, and building positive, high-performing teams
This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in one of the most ambitious high-speed ferry projects ever undertaken.
