Ship Manager – Belgium

2 Year Fixed Contract

Must speak Dutch / Belgian to be considered.

I am seeking a proactive and experienced Ship Manager to join my client's team in Belgium. This role is key to ensuring the efficient maintenance, coordination, and operational readiness of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Planning & Coordination:
    • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, including Corrective (KO), Scheduled (GO), and Urgent (IO) tasks.
    • Distribute work orders to the relevant Workshop Managers (WSMs).
    • Schedule personnel for project execution in consultation with WSMs.
  • Project Oversight:
    • Manage all phases of maintenance projects, including:
      • Test Before Maintenance (TBM)
      • Project Execution Plan (PUP)
      • Setting to Work & Harbour Acceptance Trials (STW/HAT)
      • Review of Seaworthiness Protocol Material Lists (MZWH)
      • Follow-up on Sea Acceptance Trial (SAT) tests
  • Daily Operations:
    • Monitor onboard maintenance activities and coordinate with WSMs.
    • Create, track, and follow up on work orders: Extra (MR), Operational Defect (OD), and Onboard Assistance (BA).
    • Attend and contribute to weekly project meetings and toolbox meetings.
  • UK Operations Coordination:
    • Coordinate and supervise work executed in the UK.
    • Maintain communication between Belgium and the UK Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
  • Cost & Reporting Management:
    • Control maintenance costs and track spare parts and subcontractors per ship.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting.
    • Prepare invoices for clients as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a maritime or engineering background.
  • Proficient in Dutch, and English.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office Suite and MS Project.
  • Valid driving license (Category B).
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills.
