We're looking for a Senior Agency Operator to join a small, long-established team based on-site at a major marine terminal near Southampton. This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll handle all aspects of port agency and terminal operations, including vessel coordination, customs documentation, and on-site boarding.
You'll follow a fixed 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights), with no work taken home.
Once trained, you'll work with others during day shifts and independently during nights, so confidence and initiative are key.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end coordination of vessel port calls
- Managing documentation, customs clearance, and service bookings
- Boarding vessels to complete formalities and deliver/collect paperwork
- Liaising with port authorities, terminals, and ship crews
- Keeping all stakeholders informed throughout each operation
- Shifts: 2 days, then 2 nights, then 4 days off – repeat this rotation 3 times, then enjoy 10 days off before restarting the pattern! 12 hour shifts 6am-6pm or 6pm - 6am.
- Experience in port agency or marine operations
- Ability to work independently, especially on night shifts
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full right to work in the UK and access to transport to reach the site
- £28,000 base salary + £350 monthly shift allowance
- £300 overtime per shift when covering (rising to £400 on bank holidays)
- Shared pool car for on-site use
- A stable, supportive team environment with long-serving colleagues
