Job Description

Faststream are working with a major subsea business to add a Naval Architect to their offshore resources team. In this role, you will work closely with Vessel Superintendents and Project Managers to provide naval architecture support and expertise to their fleet of offshore construction vessels. This is a hybrid role based out of Aberdeen. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Frequently assist Vessel Superintendents and Project Managers with technical matters related to naval architecture.
  • Prepare specifications, scopes of work, calculations, and sketches for routine modifications, repairs, upgrades, and drydock works.
  • Manage third-party consultants conducting specialist naval architectural studies and communicate with shipyards and fabricators.
  • Conduct stability checks, quayside mooring analysis, and potentially structural calculations.
  • Communicate with Flag State, Port State, and Classification Society representatives regarding technical matters.
  • Attend offshore, on-site, and regional/global meetings as required.
  • Provide Naval Architectural services to other departments in areas such as tendering and project support.
  • Coordinate and maintain a database of vessel RAOs.
  • Act as a focal point for onboard stability software/computers for the fleet.
  • Manage and supervise 3rd parties completing deadweight surveys and inclining experiments and produce associated stability documentation.
  • Liaise with model testing establishments and develop scopes of work.
  • Provide technical support for new build projects as needed.
Requirements: 
  • Degree in Naval Architecture or a related field
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with vessel loading software and/or vessel stability software
  • Experienced in conducting Naval Architectural calculations and stability assessments
  • Knowledgeable in ship Classification Society rules and international marine legislation (SPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.)
