As a Mechanical Engineer your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop concepts, layouts, and detailed designs for compact, highly integrated products
 - Design mechanical parts and assemblies using Solidworks that meet the specified requirements
 - Incorporate the principles of Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, and Design for Cost into your designs and drawings
 - Create technical drawings and manufacturing data packs in accordance with recognised standards.
 - Manage and maintain design data with standard best-practice configuration management procedures
 - Be “hands-on” with the evaluation and testing of prototypes and engineering samples
 - Complete thermal analysis using suitable tools and techniques and create designs that effectively manage the thermal loading of the products
 - Support the development of the R&D test & prototyping lab within the office
 - Provide training and technical support as required for other members

- Experience in a similar role
 - Experience using CAD software to generate 3D models of components of assemblies and technical drawing packs
 - Experience working with hardware engineers on the design and integration of PCBs
 - Experience with common techniques and analysis methods for effective thermal management of electronics
 - Experience with configuration management (PDM/PLM)
 - Understanding of manufacturing methods suitable for prototyping, low and high-volume production (eg 3D printing, machining, etching, injection moulding, etc)
 - Experience and desire to use common hand tools for assembling, measuring, and testing prototypes and engineering samples
 - Experience managing procurement and manufacturing of components with suppliers and vendors
 - You should have strong communication skills and be comfortable communicating your ideas and opinions with engineers, vendors, and non-technical stakeholders
 - Strong documentation and organisational skills
 - Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline
 - Must have the right to work in the UK
