The Company
  
One of the world’s largest chemical groups, with a Trading & Shipping division that is a 24/7 global operation that keeps the business moving by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of petrochemicals and gases across the globe. Their Marine Assurance team plays a key role in all of this acting as the gatekeepers of safety, standards, and compliance for thousands of vessels moving across international waters and EU inland waterways.
  
The Role
  
As Marine Assurance Superintendent, you’ll be at the core of the global marine safety operation, making the call on whether vessels and managers meet the mark for transporting high value cargoes safely across sea and inland routes.
You'll assess ship operators, conduct vetting, lead incident responses, and advise across 17 businesses units. From offshore to terminals, tankers to tugs – this is a big role in a high- takes environment.
  
Expect:
  
1️⃣ Daily decisions on vessel suitability across 40,000+ entries
2️⃣ Responsibility for 12,000+ ship and barge vet requests annually
3️⃣ Port clearance of 3,000 vessels/year
4️⃣ Technical advice on terminal safety and marine logistics
5️⃣ Global travel for audits, inspections, and industry meetings
6️⃣ A seat at the table for emergency response and investigations
  
You’ll be part of a small, specialist team covering vetting, risk, audits, terminal assessments and industry standards working on call and on point, all over the world.
  
About You
  
This role suits a calm, decisive operator who’s been there and done it at sea. Ideally, you’ll have:
  
1️⃣ At least 10 years of seagoing experience including 2 years as a senior engineer on Gas Carrier or Tankers
2️⃣ A Class 1 CoC Chief Engineer
3️⃣ Hands on knowledge of oil, gas, LNG, LPG, ethane vessels and engine types
4️⃣ Time ashore in ship management or energy majors
5️⃣ Confidence to hold the line on safety, even under pressure
6️⃣ A strong grasp of SIRE, OCIMF, SIGTTO, MTMSA, and industry expectations
7️⃣ Terminal audit and marine investigation experience
