Faststream is partnering with a ship management company to appoint a Marine Superintendent to join their technical team in Singapore. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the assigned fleet, working closely with seagoing staff, ship management teams, and regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day marine operations of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies, flag state, port state, and international regulations (e.g. ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS).
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, and navigational assessments both onboard and remotely.
  • Monitor vessel performance, safety, and navigation standards, providing guidance and corrective actions where required.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up on corrective and preventive measures.
  • Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems.
  • Liaise with Masters and crew, providing support and direction on operational matters.
  • Support vetting inspections and ensure readiness for oil major, CDI, or RightShip inspections as applicable.
  • Collaborate with other departments (technical, crewing, commercial) to ensure seamless vessel operations.
Requirements:
  • Sailing experience as Chief Officer or Master Mariner on relevant vessel types (chemical/product tankers).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a shore-based Marine Superintendent or similar role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations, audits, inspections, and vetting processes.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally and with multicultural crews.
  • Willingness to travel for vessel visits and inspections as required.
