Faststream is partnering with a well-established international ship management company to identify an experienced Marine Superintendent to join their expanding team in Singapore. This role will focus on the safe and efficient management of multipurpose (MPP) fleet.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day marine operations for assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other international regulations. The position requires extensive global travel—approx 200 days per year—to conduct vessel visits, inspections, and audits. You will work closely with Masters and crew to drive operational safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure vessels under management comply with flag, class, and company requirements.
- Conduct internal audits, navigational assessments, and safety inspections onboard vessels.
- Support Masters and shipboard teams in achieving operational excellence.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Liaise with clients, charterers, and internal departments to maintain high operational standards.
- Provide mentorship and training to onboard officers on safety and navigational matters.
The Candidate
To be considered, you should have:
- Master Mariner (FG) certification with sailing experience as Master on MPP / general cargo / bulk vessels.
- Minimum 2–3 years of shore-based experience as Marine Superintendent or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ISM / ISPS / MLC compliance and vetting requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (approx. 200 days annually).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
