Marine Superintendent – Mixed Fleet 

Faststream is working with a leading company in the dry cargo shipping industry, committed to delivering safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Our client manages a diverse fleet of dry cargo vessels, supporting global trade and logistics with high operational standards. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Superintendent to join their team in Hamburg.

As a Marine Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a mixed fleet of vessels. You’ll be responsible for regulatory compliance, vessel performance, and providing expert operational support to seagoing staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a maritime professional with a background as a Master on dry cargo vessels and at least one year of shore-based experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
  • Provide operational support and guidance to Masters and onboard crews.
  • Conduct routine inspections to uphold safety, seaworthiness, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate vessel maintenance, repair schedules, and dry-dockings.
  • Develop, implement, and promote best practices for operational safety.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and follow up with corrective actions.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of vessel movements and port calls.
  • Review and validate vessel reports, logs, and certifications.
  • Support training and development of crew to maintain high performance and safety culture.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Must have the right to work in Europe.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Master on dry cargo vessels.
  • Minimum 1 year of shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent (or similar).
  • In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, ISM/ISPS codes, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in marine management systems and related software.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for vessel visits and inspections.
