This role sits close to operations and chartering, with a strong focus on marine assurance, vetting, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen and vet oil, gas, and chemical tankers in line with company and chartering standards
- Drive marine, safety, environmental, and quality excellence across fleet operations
- Ensure compliance with international and regional maritime regulations and industry best practices
- Provide marine assurance and subject matter expertise covering vetting, nautical standards, cargo assurance, HSEQ, and marine operations
- Conduct ship and site visits, including inspections, audits (ship managers, STS providers), risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Monitor third-party inspections (SIRE, PSC, FSI, etc.) and ensure timely closure of findings
- Support office operations teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations
- Provide support to senior operations and marine assurance leadership as required
Key Requirements
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner)
- Minimum 30 months as Chief Officer or 18 months as Master on oil/chemical tankers (Master experience strongly preferred)
- Min 3 years shore-based experience in a similar marine assurance or superintendent role.
- Strong understanding of marine, operational, commercial, and HSEQ requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Essential to have Oil/Chemical background. LNG experience is a plus
