We are looking for a motivated Maritime SME to join their growing London office. This would be ideal next step for someone who has worked at sea, with a strong technical/operations background, looking to grow into a software driven role
Key purpose
- Ensure AI models reflect real maritime operations, safety standards, and inspection realities.
- Improve AI accuracy and reliability through high-quality data annotation and structured testing.
- Support trusted adoption of AI in maritime safety, compliance, and decision-making.
- Provide marine subject matter input into AI and digital product development.
- Annotate, review, and quality-check marine datasets used for AI training and validation.
- Test AI model outputs before and after deployment, identifying errors, bias, and edge cases.
- Translate complex maritime concepts for non-marine technical teams.
- Collaborate closely with AI engineers and data scientists to improve model performance.
- Support governance, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Experience in maritime assurance, vessel operations, safety, or incident investigation.
- Previous experience working on board vessels as either an officer or Chief officer
- Strong understanding of global maritime standards and inspection frameworks (PSC, SIRE, RISQ desirable).
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong quality and analytical mindset.
- Comfortable questioning outputs and investigating inconsistencies.
- Clear communicator with a genuine interest in AI, data, and maritime technology.
