This senior role provides marine governance, assurance, and technical authority, ensuring vessels meet international regulatory requirements and the demanding vetting standards of oil majors and high-tier clients.
Reporting into senior management, the Marine Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing marine assurance frameworks, regulatory compliance, risk management, and governance across the fleet. The role acts as the Company’s DP Technical Authority and plays a critical part in driving marine operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide marine expertise, assurance, and governance to vessel and fleet management teams.
- Maintain a robust marine assurance framework aligned with international, national, and local regulatory requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with IMO, ISM, ISPS, and MLC requirements, including DOC and vessel certification.
- Lead internal and external marine assurance and verification programmes across the fleet.
- Oversee and support vessel vetting activities, ensuring vessels consistently meet oil major and client standards.
- Review vetting outcomes, identify trends, and work with operational teams to close deficiencies.
- Conduct vessel visits, audits, and verification activities to ensure required safety and operational standards are met.
- Act as DP Technical Authority, providing expert guidance on DP compliance and operational adherence.
- Manage DP FMEA programmes across the fleet in line with IMCA requirements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate marine operational risks, ensuring effective controls are implemented.
- Support marine accident, incident, and non-conformance investigations in collaboration with QHSE teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture and operational excellence onboard vessels.
- Line manage marine and vetting personnel, providing coaching, mentoring, and development support.
- Act as a marine and nautical focal point for clients as required.
- Fulfil the roles of Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO).
- Actively participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Marine Certificate of Competency or degree-level education.
- Extensive experience with DP systems, operations, and assurance.
- Proven experience acting as DP authority or senior DP advisor.
- Lead Auditor qualification with ISM and ISO auditing experience.
- Strong working knowledge of marine legislation and standards (ISM, ISPS, MLC, Class, Flag).
- Demonstrated experience managing vessel vetting schemes for offshore clients.
- Background in marine operations and marine warranty environments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience coaching and mentoring teams.
- Culturally aware, with experience supporting global offshore operations.
