About the Role
As the Managing Naval Architect, you will oversee daily operations, lead a growing technical team, and serve as a director of the company. The role is both strategic and technical—around half of your time will be spent on project engineering work in your field of expertise. You will work closely with colleagues in Australia to manage project delivery, resource planning, and operational functions such as HR and finance (with administrative support).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Kochi-based business
- Deliver naval architecture design work, with focus on your area of expertise
- Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development
- Oversee project resource allocation and ensure delivery to client expectations
- Work closely with Australian stakeholders on project coordination, HR, and IT planning
- Contribute to business strategy, client relationship management, and operational improvement
- Serve as a director of the company (Directors & Officers Insurance provided)
- Degree-qualified naval architect with 12+ years of relevant experience
- Strong technical background in either:
- Ship concept design, or
- Ship structural/basic design
- Expert knowledge of:
- Structural optimisation techniques
- Classification society structural rules and scantling software
- Prior experience working in a specialist consultancy environment
- Proven ability to lead projects and teams
- Strong communicator with a collaborative mindset and attention to quality
- High level of autonomy in a leadership role
