The Role:
As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for delivering legal advice and commercial guidance across a diverse range of jurisdictions. This role sits working closely with the general counsel at the heart of the legal and executive function, offering direct exposure to business-critical decisions and high-value transactions in the maritime and energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for maritime shipping and energy operations across multiple regions
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and shipping agreements
- Support litigation processes, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance
- Assist with joint ventures, new market entry, and risk management strategies
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counsel across Europe
- Ensure policies are aligned with relevant legal and compliance frameworks
- Respond to changing business priorities and legal requests with agility
Essential criteria:
- Several years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law
- Strong background in maritime law, shipping, and oil & gas
- Qualified solicitor with cross-border transactional experience
- Fluent in French and English (both written and spoken)
- Demonstrated ability to operate in high-pressure, evolving commercial environments
- Independent and proactive, with the ability to reprioritise quickly
