The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Manager- Sales to lead our clients global Marine business unit. Reporting directly to the Director, you will drive growth across new build and retrofit product sales worldwide, while inspiring and developing a high-performing internal sales team. You will take ownership of commercial and marketing activities, ensuring targets are consistently met and margins are optimised.
As a key leader, you will work closely with the technology and management teams to shape product development, respond to evolving customer needs, and navigate the challenges of the global marine market. Your strategic influence, leadership, and commercial insight will directly contribute to the continued success of the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to maximise customer support, technical solutions, and profitable sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to influence sales cycles and scope at shipyards and retrofit projects.
- Build and maintain a resilient sales pipeline to support forecast accuracy and business growth.
- Develop strong relationships with ship owners, operators, distributors, and agents to win new business and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Partner with senior departmental leaders to enhance team engagement and drive cross-functional initiatives.
- Champion innovative ways of working to improve efficiency and employee satisfaction across the business.
- Forecast departmental financial performance accurately, using data-driven insights and collaboration with finance and technology teams.
- Ensure product development is aligned with market demand and evolving legislative requirements.
Requirements
- Proven track record as a sales leader, with experience developing strategic customer relationships across multiple levels of an organisation.
- Strong drive to win, increase market share, and achieve profitable growth.
- Experience working closely with technical teams to influence early-stage product and technology decisions.
- Deep understanding of target customers and the ability to provide value-added solutions.
- Charismatic and persuasive, able to build long-lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience, ideally in marine, water, or waste management sectors.
- Based in the UK; experience managing high-performing remote teams.
- Exceptional leadership, planning, and decision-making skills, with a focus on results and talent development.
- Skilled in negotiating large, complex contracts and navigating global sales processes.
- Strategic thinker with a global mindset and entrepreneurial approach to growing market share.
