An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dock Master to join a leading ship repair yard in Gibraltar, overseeing dry dock and wet berth operations. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of vessels, while upholding the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise docking and undocking of vessels, ensuring safe, efficient operations.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure the health and safety of personnel.
  • Prepare and analyse docking proposals, liaising with clients to meet technical requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance and inspections of dry docks, equipment, and facilities.
  • Monitor tides, weather, and water levels to plan safe operations.
  • Lead and manage a team of dockworkers, assigning tasks and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Act as the main point of contact for vessel captains, port authorities, and shipyard teams.
  • Respond to emergencies such as flooding, equipment failure, or accidents.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and ensure proper documentation of operations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine operations, with at least 2 in a supervisory role in ship repair or construction.
  • Strong background in marine engineering or naval architecture (preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of docking procedures for large vessels and dry dock operations.
  • Familiarity with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using shipyard management software, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in varying conditions, including dock bottoms and heights.
  • Fluent English required; Spanish fluency desirable.
