Focus: Commercial Claims Management
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Advice: Provide expert advice to the commercial team on contracts and charter parties.
- Internal Point of Contact: Advise on disputes, risk management, and loss prevention from the ship owner's perspective.
- Contract Analysis: Analyse, interpret, and explain charterparty clauses from both practical and legal perspectives.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with sanction regulations, conducting thorough due diligence assessments.
- Dispute Resolution: Add value to commercial dispute resolution by assessing claim exposure and providing expert opinion on optimal handling strategies.
- Claims Handling: Manage assigned claims in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective resolution.
- Experience: Strong background in dry bulk shipping; legal background is beneficial.
- Skills: Excellent memory, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly identify differences between similar situations.
- Attributes: Assertive, confident, and highly proficient in English. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.
- Additional Skills: Capable of collecting and analysing data, proof-reading documents, and working in an organised manner. Diplomatic in overcoming objections and challenges.
- Collaboration: Work closely with chartering and operations colleagues to advise on best practice.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay up to date on new regulations, case law, and relevant legal developments.
- Commercial Decision Support: Assist in making sound commercial decisions while safeguarding company interests and balancing customer needs.
