A prominent and well-established maritime services company with a global presence is seeking a Claims Manager to join their Hamburg office. With over a century of industry experience, the company offers comprehensive insurance services across a variety of maritime sectors and is dedicated to providing high-quality service to its international clientele.



Position Overview:

The Claims Manager will be responsible for the effective handling of marine insurance claims, including Hull & Machinery, P&I and other related insurance claims. This role involves engaging with clients, insurers, brokers, legal teams, and various stakeholders worldwide to negotiate, settle, and ensure smooth processing of claims. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain accurate records, process reimbursements, and support the company’s operations with reliable and up-to-date claim statistics.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of marine insurance claims, including Hull & Machinery, P&I, and other related claims, ensuring efficient resolution.
  • Negotiate and coordinate with various parties, including insurers, appraisers, underwriters, recovery companies, and legal representatives to facilitate claim settlements.
  • Prepare and manage claim reimbursement records and loss statistics within the company’s ERP system.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in reconciling claims data with insurers and shipping companies to support future negotiations.
  • Oversee claim file management, documentation, and relevant insurance documents.
  • Administer payment transactions associated with claims and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.



Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in law, maritime studies, or a related field, with initial work experience in the maritime industry or 2+ years of experience in marine insurance claims handling.
  • Strong knowledge of marine insurance terms and conditions.
  • Highly accurate and detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Customer-focused with a high level of service orientation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in both English and Greek (C1 level) is required.
