We are supporting a well-established, international maritime/ engineering business operating in the industrial gas, energy, and advanced systems space to appoint an Assistant General Manager. This is a senior, strategically important role, working closely with the Managing Director to lead operations, drive business development, and support the delivery of complex, high-value engineering systems worldwide.

The role combines hands-on leadership, strategic planning, and technical oversight, with significant international exposure and responsibility across projects, people, and performance.
  
Responsibilities
  • Support the General Manager in daily operations and strategic planning
  • Lead and manage engineering teams, ensuring on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery
  • Oversee project progress and ensure milestones are met across global projects
  • Drive continuous business development across international systems and solutions
  • Lead system development and system integration activities
  • Optimise cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service companies, owners, and shipyards worldwide
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and overall performance
  • Represent the company globally with shipyards, customers and suppliers
  • Oversee competence management and support the development of technical teams
  • Travel regularly to customers, suppliers, and operational sites worldwide
  
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 10+ years’ relevant professional experience in engineering-led environments
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex technical operations
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent understanding of technical, commercial, and regulatory processes
  • Customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively with international customers, suppliers, and colleagues
  • High willingness to travel internationally
  • Very strong technical English skills (spoken and written)
