Faststream is partnered with an international ship management company with a strong global footprint, for an Accountant in their Hamburg office. This is a newly created role, designed to bring accounting activities in-house for a key client, offering the opportunity to work closely with German entities while collaborating with an international head office in South America.
It’s an ideal position for someone who enjoys responsibility, cross-border coordination, and being part of a growing finance function within a well-established organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple German-based entities.
Prepare and submit VAT filings, liaising with local tax authorities as required. - Maintain and oversee vessel accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with international stakeholders, including the client’s head office and internal operational teams.
- Support the transition of accounting activities from external providers to in-house processes.
- Assist with reporting requirements and contribute to improving financial processes and controls.
- Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting standards.
- Proven experience with VAT filings and regulatory compliance in Germany.
- Fluent German (minimum C1 level), Spanish is a plus
- Solid accounting experience within a multi-entity or international environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Previous experience in the shipping or maritime industry (Desirable, not essential)
