April 2019 saw the international community gather for the much anticipated Singapore Maritime Week, held from the 6th to the 14th. Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the week encompassed a diverse collection of flagship conferences, dialogues, exhibitions and social events in celebration of the maritime industry.

The range of activities and events that were organised by the MPA, industry stakeholders and research and educational institutions to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Singapore as a global hub port and leading international maritime centre.

Faststream Recruitment was honoured to be part of Singapore Maritime Week and held their invitation-only “Maritime Leaders in Asia 2019 - Breakfast Conference by Faststream Recruitment – Supported by MPA” on Wednesday 10th April between 8 am and 9:45 am in the Begonia Suite, Marina Bay Sands.

The Breakfast Conference supported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) brought together over 130 senior-level maritime leaders and industry press who heard from two renowned keynote speakers; Wong Su-Yen and Mark Charman.

Wong, Su-Yen, an internationally recognised thought leader and board director, who helps organisations around the world navigate the intersection of technology, strategy and leadership delivered a keynote speech on "Thriving in an Age of Disruption in Asia". Given the magnitude of change confronting businesses today, the engaged audience learnt about practical approaches to thrive amidst this disruption. Su-Yen’s interesting and positive energy kept the audience engrossed in the key messages she delivered and the feedback was phenomenal from guests.

Mark Charman, CEO and Founder of Faststream Recruitment Group followed Su-Yen’s presentation, where he delivered his key findings of the Senior Executive Survey conducted in January this year. "The Changing Face of Maritime" was the theme of the survey findings and Charman highlighted key trends in the future talent of maritime, talent hubs, leadership style, career development, pay & reward and the effect of technology on the maritime industry. As always, Charman was a popular speaker amongst his guests and the two speakers complemented each other on the subject matter of their presentations.
