September saw the international Maritime community gather for the much anticipated bi-annual London International Shipping Week, held from the 9th to 13th. Organised by Shipping Innovation Limited, the week encompassed a diverse collection of flagship conferences, dialogues, exhibitions and social events in celebration of the maritime industry.
Faststream Recruitment was honoured to be part of London International Week as one of the key sponsors and held their invitation-only “Global Maritime Leaders Breakfast Conference” on Tuesday 10th September between 7:30 am and 10 am at Trinity House, London.
Chris Hunter, the former British Army Intelligence Officer, Bomb Disposal Specialist and Author delivered a highly captivating keynote speech about ‘the world’s most dangerous job in the world’s most dangerous place’. During this compelling and incredibly moving event, Hunter shared his insights on how Maritime Leaders can deal with risk, make decisions in high-pressure environments that the industry is currently facing and achieve the potentially unachievable through visualisation, gut instinct, focus and prioritisation. Hunter’s personal experiences and light-hearted approach left the audience with a heightened sense of purpose and a greater understanding of how to achieve their goals.
Mark Charman, CEO and Founder of Faststream Recruitment Group followed Chris Hunter’s presentation, where he delivered his Maritime Recruitment update highlighting trends across three key areas; demand, supply and reward. Charman also made his own recruitment predictions for the industry over the next five years. As always, Charman was a popular speaker amongst his guests and the two speakers complemented each other on the subject matter of their presentations.
