Vessel Operator
Location: Isle of Man

Our client, an established, globally active shipping and trading organisation is seeking an experienced Vessel Operator to join its operations department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a business that manages a dry bulk fleet and supports both internal trading activities and third‑party customers under voyage and time charter fixtures.
The Role
As a Vessel Operator, you will be responsible for the full execution of daily vessel operations across international trade routes. Working closely with Chartering, Trading and other internal teams, you will ensure voyages run safely, efficiently, and in full contractual compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Executing vessel operations and maintaining accurate voyage schedules, instructions and documentation
  • Managing voyage recaps, charter party compliance, and coordination with commercial teams
  • Monitoring voyage progress, including ETA/ETB/ETS, stowage planning and bunker supply arrangements
  • Handling laytime calculations, freight and hire payments, and voyage closure activities
  • Maintaining professional communication with vessel owners, charterers, brokers, port agents and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring smooth port operations and proactive problem‑solving throughout each voyage
About You
This role is ideal for a vessel operator with strong dry bulk experience who can demonstrate ownership of the fleet and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing operations team.
You will bring:
  • Experience in vessel operations, ideally around 5 years’ time charter experience
  • Background in dry bulk shipping, grain trading, or experience with an owner/operator
  • Strong understanding of charter party terms, laytime principles and port DA management
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple voyages and priorities in a fast‑moving environment
  • Knowledge of marine insurance (P&I, war risk) is advantageous
