Faststream is partnering with a client based in Germany who are looking to expand the team with an additional Technical Superintendent.

This excellent role will be part of an established team and have the opportunity to grow and develop working with mixed vessels along with exploring green technologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all technical aspects of our vessels, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards, and coordinating maintenance and repair activities.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  
  • Manage and oversee the technical operations of our vessels, including maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Ensure all vessels meet industry regulations and standards, and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Develop and implement maintenance and repair schedules, and coordinate activities with vessel crews and contractors.
  • Manage budgets and expenses related to vessel maintenance and repair activities.
  • Monitor vessel performance and provide guidance to crew and technical staff to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the procurement of spare parts, supplies, and equipment, and manage inventory levels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure timely reporting and documentation of technical issues and activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to vessel crews and technical staff as needed.
  • Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  
Qualifications:

  • Minimum sailing experience to the rank of 2nd Engineer with Cargo Vessels.
  • Knowledge of 2 and/or 4 stroke engines
  • Excellent knowledge of vessel maintenance, repair, and certification requirements.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to develop and execute maintenance and repair plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and expenses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with vessel crews, technical staff, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and address technical issues.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards, including ISM, ISPS, and SOLAS.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • A strong understanding of the German language will be very advantageous
