Job Description

Faststream are working with a major EPC to add a Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer to their team. This is a hybrid working role based out of Manchester. The client has both staff and 12-month ltd company contract positions available. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the mechanical team is appropriately staffed to achieve planned objectives and that all personnel possess the necessary skills, qualifications, experience, and training for the project.

  • Providing assurance to the Project Engineering Manager and Client Engineer that all aspects of engineering within the mechanical discipline have been executed to an acceptable standard.

  • Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure that best practices are utilized in the engineering of the NMGP project and that project specifications and standards are met.

  • Reviewing and approving designs, as well as checking and approving engineering deliverables.

  • Undertaking technical bid evaluations as necessary.

  • Employing logical and creative thinking to resolve design and development issues.

  • Identifying potential risks in the workplace, site, and design work being carried out.

  • Considering environmental, commercial, safety, and operational aspects of design.

  • Managing change and identifying, formalizing, and communicating changes in the project to relevant parties.

  • Communicating and collaborating with colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

  • Estimating and managing budgets, schedules, and project quality.

  • Driving, controlling, and scheduling workshare using Global Integrated Delivery (GID).


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Engineer on Oil & Gas and Petrochemical FEED projects.

  • Knowledge of pumps, including seal systems.

  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine-driven centrifugal compressors.

  • Familiarity with power generation equipment and utility packages.

  • Understanding of American design codes and standards, including ASME, ASTM, NACE, API.

  • Working knowledge of corrosion and degradation mechanisms and the ability to review materials of construction for equipment in gas service.

  • Commercial awareness within a professional services environment.
