Faststream recruitment are looking for a Pipework Inspector for a client of ours based in Glasgow. Our client, a prominent player in shipbuilding since 1903, is seeking skilled individuals to support the installation, inspection, and witness testing of pipe systems onboard vessels.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate health & safety competencies, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ensure a "Right First Time" approach to installation and sign-off in collaboration with production teams.
  • Support lead inspectors in inspecting pipe systems according to approved drawings and contract standards.
  • Coordinate with production and clients to address defects and progress to official pipe testing.
  • Patrol and monitor vessels for compliance with piping system installations.
  • Produce inspection reports and follow up on actions to completion.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining survey procedures, standards, and forms in Q-Pulse.
  • Support project plans to meet required completion dates for acceptance events.
  • Safely operate testing and inspection equipment, including calibration.
  • Read technical drawings to aid in the inspection process.
  • Required Knowledge:
  • Demonstrable experience in ship piping system installations.
  • Understanding of defect assessment against acceptance/rejection criteria specified by standards and regulations.
  • Commitment to a "Right First Time" approach to avoid rework or substandard workmanship.

  • Effective communication skills to facilitate timely completion of inspection programs.
  • Ability to work well in a team and support others when needed.
  • Drive for timely completion and problem resolution.
  • Ability to positively influence others and act with integrity and responsibility.
  • Willingness to engage in training and guidance to support problem resolution.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Time served pipe fitter.
  • Experience in installation, inspection, and commissioning of pipe systems.
  • Sound knowledge of marine codes and regulations.
  • Right to work in the UK
