Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all chartering activities specific to container vessels across global markets.
- Identify and secure container tonnage for short-term and long-term charters based on trade requirements.
- Negotiate charter party terms and finalize contracts with shipowners and operators.
- Provide ongoing market analysis and charter rate assessments to support commercial decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (Operations, Commercial, Legal) to ensure smooth execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vessel owners, chartering brokers, and service providers.
- Monitor P&L performance of the chartering department and ensure financial targets are met.
- Represent the company at major industry events, conferences, and high-level chartering negotiations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business Administration, or related fields.
- At least 8 years of relevant chartering experience, with a strong track record specifically in container vessel chartering.
- Proven ability to source, negotiate, and close container vessel charters (both spot and time charters).
- Familiarity with container ship types, trade dynamics, and current market conditions.
- Prior experience managing commercial negotiations and chartering strategies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin is a must to liaise with the relevant Chinese stakeholders.
