We’re working with a global leader in energy logistics solutions seeking a dynamic Head of Business Development & Technology to lead its strategic growth and energy transition agenda. This is a rare opportunity to influence global strategy at the highest level, driving innovation across traditional shipping, new energy ventures, and decarbonisation initiatives. As part of the Extended Leadership Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping long-term business growth, guiding investment decisions, and fostering partnerships that will redefine the future of maritime transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Business Development function to deliver medium- to long-term growth through strategic pursuits, tenders, and new business opportunities.
- Champion low-carbon maritime solutions and renewable energy initiatives, integrating decarbonisation technologies into new vessel designs.
- Oversee core business projects, asset sale and purchase activities, and fleet rejuvenation initiatives with a focus on sound technical and financial analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Commercial, Technical, Sustainability, and Strategy — to ensure alignment with corporate and energy transition goals.
- Identify and evaluate strategic technology partnerships that enhance customer value and competitive positioning.
- Prepare and present strategic reports, investment proposals, and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
- Coach, develop, and inspire a diverse, high-performing team, driving engagement and accountability across the division.
- Represent the organisation in external partnerships, industry forums, and customer engagements, particularly across the European market.
- Contribute to the broader leadership team in setting strategic direction, reviewing performance, and ensuring delivery of corporate goals.
- Degree in Marine, Engineering, Economics, Business, Law, or Finance (or equivalent).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in business, technology, commercial or strategic planning roles, ideally within the shipping, energy, or logistics sectors.
- Proven record of strategic leadership, business development, and technology-driven transformation.
- Strong understanding of marine engineering, project execution, and shipbuilding contract negotiation and management.
- Excellent financial acumen, with the ability to develop business cases and financial models to support investment decisions.
- Skilled communicator with deep experience in stakeholder engagement, commercial negotiation, and strategic partnerships.
