Faststream is recruiting for a Finance Controller to join a reputable Ship Operating company based in Rotterdam. This role offers a welcoming environment where your voice will be heard. You will work alongside the Finance Director and Commercial Director, having a significant impact on major business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies during closing procedures.
  • Drive automation and improve reporting by translating data into visuals and insights.
  • Define and monitor relevant KPIs, comparing company performance against industry benchmarks.
  • Collect and analyze both financial and non-financial data to support management decision-making processes, managing data from various sources and programs.
  • Establish robust communication channels and feedback systems to foster transparency, build trust, and enhance collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Assist the accounting team in preparing audit deliverables.
Your Profile:
  • Enjoy analyzing data, recognizing patterns, and interpreting underlying narratives.
  • Pride in presenting discoveries through high-quality reporting that adds value across the company.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree focused on accounting or finance.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in business control or financial control.
  • Experience with data handling systems, database management, and some coding (expert knowledge of Excel required, PowerBI and/or Python is a plus).
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to process large amounts of information and draw accurate conclusions.
  • "Hands-on" approach with a "can do" mentality, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English (Dutch is a plus).
