Job Description

Faststream are working with an independent consultancy who provide comprehensive services in marine engineering, design and subsea cables. They seek a MV/HV Electrical Lead Engineer to lead their cable accessory development and production projects.

The Role: 

Responsibilities to include (in no particular order):
  • Working with customers to ensure range of products match market needs
  • Leading assigned technical & engineering tasks drawing on own skills and knowledge and those of colleagues
  • Specifying and selecting MV and HV cable joint and connector components
  • Managing MV and HV accessory development and qualification testing
  • Preparing technical reports & papers
  • Input to commercial proposals and tenders
  • Compiling project plans and documentation
  • Preparing Risk Assessments for design, build, operations and maintenance
  • Estimating costs & preparing budgets
  • Specifying of equipment or components required for projects and orders
  • Ordering of equipment or components
  • Developing inspection and test plans and routines
  • Presenting to customers on technical and project issues
  • Managing suppliers
  • Working in accordance with quality and safety policies and management systems
The Person: 
The ideal candidate will be a degree qualified engineer with around 5 years’ industry experience; a background in subsea cable accessory development and testing, or a similar role in a related industry.  Experience of supply chain management is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of electrical assembly and testing
  • Driving license
  • Willing and medically fit to work offshore for limited periods. Company will fund medical and safety training
Desirable Skills:
  • Supply chain management
  • Knowledge of fabrication methods, machining etc
  • Experience using basic CAD packages
  • Experience using SAGE or similar procurement software
