As a Technical and Quality Officer your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage the appointment and allocation of nautical inspectors on behalf of the Principal Registrar.
  • To manage and give oversight to Flag inspection regime and instigate appropriate follow-up measures as required.
  • To manage and give oversight to Port State inspections and detentions and initiate appropriate measures as required.
  • To follow up on outstanding deficiencies and non-conformities following Flag and PSC inspections, surveys, and audits.
  • To liaise with ship owners, managers, recognised organisations, and nautical inspectors.
  • Ensure that vessels’ technical files are prepared and correctly maintained.
  • To Represent the Ship Registry with clients and at meetings of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other bodies as required including active participation in working and correspondent group discussions
  • To ensure the Ship Registry’s Quality Management System conforms to IMO and ISO 9001 regulatory requirements

Requirements...


  • Master’s degree in: Naval Architecture, Marine engineering, Maritime Laws, or any equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the International Maritime Conventions and Codes.
  • Proficient level of computer literacy.
  • The ability to communicate efficiently, effectively, and professionally with customers by telephone and in all written communication.
  • ISO 9001 Quality management knowledge is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in the English language both verbal and written.
  • Must have the right to work and live in the UK without limitation.
  • Have a strong ability to be able to write reports.
  • Must be a commutable distance to the London office for up to 2 days per week.
