Job Title: Senior Route Engineer

This client is a specialized data and cable route engineering consultancy within a Global Consultancy, dedicated to installing and maintaining critical subsea cable networks. Renowned for delivering high-quality cable route engineering services to major companies like Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and leading submarine telecom firms, as well as supporting offshore renewables and power interconnector projects.
Purpose:
As a Senior Route Engineer with this Client, you'll be an integral part of our route planning team, managing the delivery of technical design studies to assess risks to future submarine cable systems. Your role involves utilizing GIS and marine survey data, and you'll contribute to various aspects of offshore cable route engineering.
Key Deliverables:
- Project manage and deliver technical design studies for cable route engineering
- Expand the knowledge base of the route engineering department with complementary experience
- Assess marine survey data for cable routeing and burial analysis
- Provide technical input for subsea cable route engineering consultancy bids
- Undertake route engineering tasks using specialized GIS software
- Represent the client in meetings with stakeholders
- Generate cable route position lists and diagrams
- Present work internally and externally
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
Required:
- Suitable earth science degree (hydrographic surveying, marine geophysics)
- Experience in a complementary skillset or role (e.g., terrestrial FO cable network construction, marine survey, offshore renewable energy project engineering, submarine cable permitting)
- Proficiency in GIS software (Intergraph GeoMedia/ESRI) or equivalent
- Computer literacy and proficiency in technical software programs
- Attention to detail and a logical approach- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Full UK Driving license
Ideal:
- Knowledge of the offshore environment
Location: Flexible for Remote working - office in Chelmsford if preference is to be in the office
