Faststream are working with a leading manufacturer of elastomer products for the Oil & Gas, Renewables and Space industries.
My client is a privately owned business that is ongoing an extensive growth initiative including expansion overseas, making this an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a thriving business.
As a Principal R&D Engineer, your role will involve researching and developing innovative patentable products, managing projects from conception to completion, improving the performance of existing products, liaising with customers and other departments, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop creative and innovative mechanical solutions to address customer challenges.
Identify and file patentable ideas.
Research and develop ideas for new products.
Manage projects from conception to completion within tight timelines.
Collaborate with Engineers and Technicians to ensure timely project completion.
Undertake engineering tasks using established procedures.
Invent and establish new procedures that align with the company's needs.
Mentor graduates.
Conduct failure mode and effect analysis.
Work with external bodies such as suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
Liaise with customers from concept through testing to successful product release.
Maintain compliance with my client's quality systems and procedures, including ISO 9001.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and implement improvement programs involving team members and other employees.
Support all functions and personnel in achieving business goals and objectives.
Foster a proactive "make it happen" culture.
Manage and develop subordinates effectively to deliver company objectives, including implementing development and performance management programs and conducting timely performance appraisals.
Promote an open and collaborative approach with all employees to support delivery of business goals and objectives.
Lead by example and demonstrate role model traits.
Perform tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Possess a degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline.
Demonstrate a proven track-record in designing and developing oilfield tools.
Have experience in the engineering design and development process.
Display evidence of creative thought and innovation.
Possess analytical skills.
Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
Be computer literate.
Experience and skills using SolidWorks are advantageous.
Experience and skills of FEA, preferably using Abacus, are beneficial.
