We’re working with a leading organisation who are seeking a Finance Business Partner – Projects to take ownership of the financial management across a portfolio of projects. This position will focus on accurate tracking of budgets, revenues, costs and forecasts, while providing commercial insight to project managers and senior leadership. Acting as a key link between finance and operations, you’ll ensure robust reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and help drive informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee project budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections
- Analyse project performance against budget, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommending corrective action
- Produce financial reports covering KPIs, variances, and trend analysis
- Present results and forecasts to senior stakeholders in a clear, impactful way
- Translate complex data into actionable insights for non-finance colleagues
- Ensure project costs, invoicing and revenue recognition align with contractual and accounting standards
- Support project stage reviews and contribute financial evaluation at key milestones
- Assist in audits relating to project activity
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments
- Advise and challenge project managers to ensure sound financial decisions
- Review commercial contracts to protect profitability and mitigate risks
- Identify opportunities to improve margins and strengthen project value
- Support improvements in reporting, systems and digital tools to drive efficiency
Skills & Experience
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Background in project accounting, management accounting or FP&A
- Experience in project-driven industries (engineering, construction, IT, professional services, etc.) is highly desirable
- Confident working with complex data sets and financial systems
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
