About the Role
The Equipment Manager provides leadership and direction to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of container terminal equipment. This role involves managing maintenance activities, overseeing equipment budgets, and improving equipment design and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Direction: Provide guidance to maintenance contractors and technicians.
  • Maintenance Management: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Budgeting: Work with business managers to prepare maintenance and energy budgets; approve expenditures within budget and authority limits.
  • Inventory Control: Manage parts, materials, and supplies inventory to ensure availability while minimizing stock levels.
  • Equipment Improvement: Enhance equipment safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date records and documentation for all maintenance activities.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree in electrical/electronic, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years in a technical managerial role.
    • Experience in container handling equipment maintenance.
    • Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment.
    • Experience with unionized workforce and working within a bargaining agreement.
  • Skills:
    • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and safety, health, and environmental issues.
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
    • Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoors, at height, in confined spaces, and during irregular hours.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
    • Additional studies in asset management or business preferred.
