Job Description

I am currently working with a fast-growing Cruise company who is recruiting for a Director of Compliance to join the Marine Operations Department.

As a member of the Marine Operations Department, the Director of Compliance leads the members of the compliance organization to provide excellent results and improvement to the fleet along with supporting the VP Fleet Support, VP Nautical and Port Captain with all marine operations related activities.  Acts as Company Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Deputy Company Security Officer (DCSO). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Strong leadership in directly supervising the Marine Safety Coordinator, Fleet Training Coordinator and Fleet Support Coordinator.
  • Ensure that the policies of the Company are understood by, valued and followed.
  • Support the VP Fleet Support and Port Captain with all marine operations related activities.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
BA/BS degree in related field required.  Previous experience in the marine industry and/or shipboard experience required; preferably a former ship Master.  Must be well versed with U. S. Coast Guard, Bahamas Maritime Authority, American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas and Det Norske Veritas – Germanischer Lloyd compliance as well as ISM/SMS/ISPS/MTSA standards and systems.  Previous experience with auditing procedures preferred.
