Job Summary: The Technical Superintendent is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance of assigned vessels. As an integral part of the Ship Management Team, this role demands adherence to the highest standards of ship management practices, with a non-negotiable commitment to maritime safety and environmental conservation.
Reporting Line: This position reports directly to the Fleet Manager.
Location: Based in the vibrant maritime hub of Singapore.
Core Responsibilities:
- Vessel Reporting: Oversee and organize vessel reports, ensuring systematic record-keeping.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze operational data, including costs and maintenance schedules, to evaluate the vessel’s condition and performance.
- Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data entered into the Ship Management System by the vessel crew.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the ship’s command to develop and monitor a proactive maintenance and operation plan.
- Vessel Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to assess the vessel’s state, maintenance needs, crew efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Technical Specifications: Draft detailed technical specifications for ship dockings and other maintenance activities.
- Regional Inspections: Perform pre-purchase inspections across the Asia region.
- Technical Analysis: Provide technical insights for potential new acquisitions.
- Additional Duties: Take on other technical assignments as directed by the Managing Director or Senior Fleet Manager.
- Timely completion of tasks.
- Precise and punctual communication, both internally and externally.
- High level of customer satisfaction.
- Strong collaborative relationships within the team.
- A recognized degree in marine engineering or naval architecture.
- A solid grasp of the shore-based aspects of the role.
- Proficiency in technical and financial management.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office suite and relevant software.
- At least 4-6 years in a comparable role, preferably on container vessels.
- Experience as a chief or second engineer, with a preference for container ship experience.
- Familiarity with dry-docking procedures.
- Proficient in Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Experience with LNG/LPG/Dual Fuel systems is a plus.
