Due to expansion our client is actively seeking to hire a Vessel IT Superintendent to join their team in London.
With a focus on innovation, cyber security, business continuity, safety, and cost-effectiveness, you the selected candidate will be part of a team of three that is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and upgrading the on-board
IT infrastructure for new and existing vessels, as well as ensuring that satellite communications are stable.
The successful candidate will provide remote IT support, and when required, on-board support to the
vessels.
Relevant experience and competencies
•Demonstrated experience and successful track record in vessel IT support and infrastructure delivery, within a global shipping company (c.100 ship fleet)
• Proven expertise in working as part of a team in delivering complex technology programmes in a
hybrid on-premise / Cloud environment which includes at least one of the “big 3” public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Practical experience and advanced working knowledge of vessel IT application management,
database management, cyber security practices, incident management, and satellite
communication equipment
• In-depth understanding of shipboard operations. Seafaring experience would be an advantage
• Logical thinker with a strong analytical background and good attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving skills together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
and judgement
• Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate and maintain strong relationships within a multi-cultural environment
• Clear, precise, and confident in verbal and written communication to support credibility and position of expertise. Ability to speak to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and prepare written reporting and presentational content
• Strong focus on delivering quality and meeting deadlines. Successful track record in dealing with a broad set of activities within a fast-paced environment, whilst managing pressure well.
• Flexibility to work prolonged hours and travel as necessary

• Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
