Opportunity: A premier ship management company is on the lookout for a dedicated Technical Purchaser to join their new setup in Singapore. This role is crucial for the procurement of spare parts, operational materials, and consumables for our Container and Dry Bulk vessels. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with our Technical and/or Marine Superintendent(s).
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Excellence: Efficiently purchase spare parts, operating materials, and consumables in sync with the ship’s crew and superintendent(s).
- Strategic Negotiation: Obtain competitive offers, conduct price comparisons, and negotiate terms with suppliers, including handling large orders for class renewals and dry dockings.
- Systematic Record-Keeping: Accurately file purchase records within the procurement system.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate and ensure the cost-effective and timely delivery of goods.
- Financial Oversight: Approve orders considering financial implications and maintain transparency with the vessel’s crew regarding spare orders and deliveries.
- Compliance and Standards: Uphold the company’s standards, including ISM and ISO regulations.
- Claims Management: Support superintendents in managing potential claims.
- Dynamic and Driven: Eager to contribute to the growth of a new ship management venture.
- Organizational Skills: Well-structured, organized, and an effective communicator.
- Industry Experience: Preferably experienced in the shipping industry and technical purchasing.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, capable of negotiating with global suppliers.
