Faststream Recruitment Representative: David Mace, Lead Consultant, Faststream Recruitment Americas
A global classification society and professional services organisation within the maritime industry was looking to strengthen its growing Project Management division with the appointment of a Project & Risk Management Lead based in Miami, Florida.
Faststream Recruitment was engaged on an exclusive basis, leveraging an existing relationship with the client and a strong understanding of their business and hiring expectations.

The Challenge

The brief required a highly specialised professional with a rare combination of technical and operational expertise within the cruise sector.

Key challenges included:

  • Identifying candidates with strong cruise industry connections and extensive knowledge of ships, maintenance periods, dry dock projects, project management, and operational turnover.

  • Sourcing talent local to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market with the right cultural and strategic fit.

  • Delivering at speed, as the client was actively growing its Project Management division and required an immediate hire.

  • Navigating a niche talent pool where suitable candidates were limited and highly sought after.

The Solution

We led the search process, drawing upon an established relationship with the client and previous recruitment experience within the classification society sector to quickly build a clear understanding of the role requirements and business expectations.

The recruitment process included:

  • Conducting a targeted search using an established network of cruise industry professionals and existing candidate relationships.

  • Carrying out detailed screening and in-depth interviews with four shortlisted professionals.

  • Presenting two highly relevant candidates to the client for consideration.

  • Managing the interview process, which resulted in one candidate progressing to the offer stage.

  • Negotiating an increase of $15,000 on the initial offer package to secure the successful candidate.

The assignment remained highly focused throughout, ensuring speed without compromising on candidate quality.

The Results

The role was successfully filled within just three weeks from candidate identification to offer acceptance.

Outcomes included:

  • A rapid and efficient hiring process for a business-critical position.

  • Delivery of a specialist candidate with the required cruise sector expertise and regional market knowledge.

  • Support for the client’s continued growth within their Project Management division.

  • A streamlined recruitment process through Faststream’s existing industry network and sector expertise.

The successful placement further strengthened the ongoing relationship between Faststream Recruitment and the client.
