Job Description

Vetting Superintendent - VLCC
India / China

Join an established international shipping organisation and take a lead role in strengthening VLCC inspection, vetting readiness and marine compliance across its tanker operations.

This is a highly hands-on position involving extensive international travel, attending vessels globally as required to conduct inspections, identify deficiencies, assess readiness for external inspections and work closely with ship and shore teams to close gaps and improve overall compliance standards.

You'll take responsibility across the inspection and vetting cycle — from pre-vetting inspections and gap analysis through to SIRE / SIRE 2.0 readiness, OCIMF requirements, PSC and Flag State inspections, as well as follow-up and close-out of findings. The role will also involve monitoring compliance with ISM, ISPS and MARPOL requirements and supporting continuous improvement across the VLCC fleet.

Key Requirements
  • Master Mariner with substantial shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent, Vetting Superintendent, Tanker Inspector or in a comparable marine role, with strong hands-on involvement in VLCC inspection and vetting activities.
  • Extensive and directly relevant VLCC experience, including vessel inspections, vetting preparation and compliance improvement.
  • Proven experience with SIRE and SIRE 2.0, OCIMF requirements, pre-vetting inspections and gap analysis.
  • Strong track record handling PSC, Flag State inspections, ISM, ISPS, MARPOL compliance and close-out of inspection findings.
  • Comfortable with extensive global travel and frequent vessel attendance.
  • Only applicants currently based in India or China will be considered for this position.
