Faststream Recruitment is working with a well-established shipping company to recruit an experienced Technical Superintendent for their tanker fleet, based in London.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong maritime professional with tanker experience to take responsibility for the safe, compliant and cost-effective technical management of assigned vessels.
 
The Role
 
As Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical performance, maintenance and operational readiness of a fleet of tanker vessels.
 
You will work closely with onboard teams, internal departments, class societies, flag states, suppliers and contractors to ensure vessels are maintained to a high standard and operate in line with company, statutory and industry requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Managing the day-to-day technical performance of assigned tanker vessels.
  • Planning and overseeing maintenance, repairs, surveys, inspections and dry dockings.
  • Monitoring vessel condition, technical budgets, operating costs and planned maintenance.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to Masters, Chief Engineers and vessel teams.
  • Ensuring vessels remain compliant with class, flag, statutory, environmental and company requirements.
  • Coordinating with shipyards, suppliers, contractors, class societies and internal stakeholders.
  • Reviewing technical reports, defect lists, inspection findings and corrective actions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across vessel reliability, safety, efficiency and technical standards.
  • Attending vessels as required for inspections, audits, repairs and technical support.
 
Requirements
 
The successful candidate will have:
 
  • Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent, Vessel Manager or similar shore-based technical role.
  • Strong tanker vessel experience and experience with ME/ME-C, ME-B, ME-LGIM engines 
  • A senior engineering background at sea, ideally as Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.
  • Good understanding of planned maintenance systems, dry docking, class requirements, vessel certification and technical budgets.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work closely with both shore-based and vessel teams.
  • Existing right to live and work in the UK.
