Faststream Recruitment is partnering with a well-established international shipping firm to appoint a Technical Superintendent to support their oil and chemical tanker fleet based in Busan.
This is a key position within the technical team, suited for a former Chief Engineer with shore-based experience who is looking to take on broader responsibility across vessel performance, compliance, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical management of assigned oil and chemical tanker vessels
- Plan and execute dry dockings, repairs, and maintenance strategies
- Monitor vessel performance, budgets, and cost control
- Ensure full compliance with Class, Flag State, and oil major requirements
- Provide technical support to vessels and manage critical troubleshooting
- Liaise closely with shipyards, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Former Chief Engineer with sailing experience on oil and/or chemical tankers
- Prior shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent (or similar)
- Strong knowledge of tanker operations, Class/Flag, and industry standards
- Proven experience managing dry dockings and technical projects
- Fluent in both Korean and English (essential) to liaise with local stakeholders and international teams
- Based in, or open to relocating to, Busan
