Job Description

Technical Superintendent – Container Vessels

Singapore

Faststream is partnering with a marine and port services operator in Singapore, running a compact, fleet of container vessels (Port-Limit Vessels). They are looking for a hands-on Technical Superintendent to take ownership of the technical management of a small fleet, working closely with vessel crews to keep operations safe, compliant, and reliable.

This is a great opportunity for a marine engineer who wants to move fully ashore into a focused, high-ownership technical role — you'll be one of the key people responsible for a defined group of vessels.

The Role
  • Oversee the technical management and operational readiness of assigned vessels to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, MPA, ISM Code, MARPOL, MLC, and internal company requirements
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of all vessel machinery and equipment
  • Manage dry docking, repairs, surveys and major overhauls within approved budgets and schedules
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers on operational and maintenance matters
  • Investigate machinery failures, breakdowns and technical incidents, and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Monitor vessel performance, equipment reliability and maintenance trends to minimise downtime
  • Manage and monitor PMS implementation and maintenance records onboard
  • Prepare and manage technical budgets, repair quotations, procurement requirements and cost control
  • Ensure timely procurement and availability of critical spare parts and consumables
  • Conduct vessel inspections and technical audits against company and regulatory standards
  • Support emergency response and provide technical assistance during vessel incidents or breakdowns
About You
  • Diploma/Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong technical grasp of marine machinery and Container vessel systems is essential — a COC2 with prior sailing experience as Second Engineer is advantageous but not a strict requirement
  • Shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent preferred
  • Proven track record in dry docking and major repairs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for marine machinery and systems
  • Good working knowledge of Class and statutory requirements
  • Experience managing planned maintenance systems (PMS) and preventive maintenance programmes

This role is not eligible for work pass/visa sponsorship. Candidates must have existing rights to work in Singapore (Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents).
