We are currently recruiting on behalf of a growing ship management company headquartered in Dubai for a highly experienced Technical Manager or Technical Director to support ongoing fleet expansion and strengthen the technical department.
This is a senior-level opportunity suited to an experienced shore-based professional with a strong background in tanker and/or dry bulk vessel operations who wants to be part of a hands-on, fast-moving and commercially focused ship management environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day technical management of the fleet while also contributing to wider operational strategy, fleet growth, performance improvement and technical decision-making across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Full technical management of assigned tanker and/or dry bulk vessels
• Monitoring technical performance, maintenance standards and fleet reliability
• Planning and supervising dry-dockings, repairs and major overhauls
• Managing technical budgets, OPEX control and procurement optimisation initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with Class, Flag State, statutory and vetting requirements
• Following up PSC inspections, SIRE/CDI observations and corrective actions
• Supporting vessel performance optimisation, fuel efficiency and emissions reduction initiatives
• Working closely with onboard and shore-based teams to maintain high operational and safety standards
• Supporting vessel takeovers, deliveries and technical due diligence projects
• Managing and mentoring technical staff within the department
• Contributing to KPI monitoring, reporting processes and technical procedure development
Candidate requirements:
• Must have sailed as Chief Engineer
• Previous shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent, Technical Manager or similar senior technical role
• Strong technical expertise across tanker and/or dry bulk vessel operations
• Experience managing vessels trading worldwide
• Extensive drydock and repair management experience
• Strong understanding of PMS systems, defect management and technical compliance
• Experience with vetting inspections, PSC performance and Class requirements
• Knowledge of FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS requirements would be highly advantageous
• Practical, hands-on and solutions-focused mindset
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Fluent English is essential
• Previous ship management experience preferred
